Title: Ode aan het Nedloydhuis
Material: Wood, recovered wallpaper, paint
Dimensions: 300 x 280 x 270 cm
Year: 2018
Site-specific installation made at Het Plafond, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
This installation is based on the constant movement of the city and the speed at which old and new buildings replace one another. Historic and characterful structures disappear in an instant, giving way to new architecture that, in time, will also be replaced. The work reflects this never-ending cycle of construction and demolition.
During the making of this installation, the Nedlloyd House was being demolished across the street from Het Plafond. I chose to respond directly to this moment, using the installation as a final farewell to the building
